Wigan Athletic played at Wigan Borough's Springfield Park ground until 1999 when the 25,000-seat JJB Stadium was built at Robin Park. Since then the Stadium has been renamed to the DW Stadium due to a change in sponsorship.
The Stadium is all seated with 4 single-tiered stands and is shared between Wigan Athletic Football Team and the Wigan Warriors Rugby Team.

Wigan Athletic were created in 1932 following the end of Wigan Borough the previous year.
Wigan Athletic were the 5th team to stabilise a football club in the town following the demise of Wigan County, Wigan United, Wigan Town A.F.C and Wigan Borough.
