Preston North End - Deepdale

Club formed in 1881

Three quarters of the ground have now been redeveloped in recent years, with some excellent looking all seater stands, complete with spectacular looking floodlights. The three stands, at both ends and at one side of the pitch, are of the same height and style and are all large, covered, single tiered stands. Each has a likeness of a past player outlined on the seats and is named after that player. Tom Finney, Bill Shankly and now on the latest stand to be built, goalkeeping legend Alan Kelly, makes a welcome change from the boring letters (such as 'Holte End' - Don't they know which stand they are in?) outlined on most new stands.

Only one old stand remains now, the Pavilion Stand at one side of the pitch. This was built in the 1930's and has seating at the rear (capacity 1,000) and terracing to the front (capacity 2,000). It is covered, but the roof does not extend far enough to cover the terracing at the front.

There is also a TV gantry hanging precariously from its roof, plus I noticed last time that a number of footballs seem to get stuck up on the roof during the game. Sometime during this season a statue of Tom Finney is to be unveiled outside the stadium.
